Welcome to the web site of the First-Year Experience (FYE) Office at Lane College.

FYE Mission

The mission of the Office of First-Year Experience is to support the successful academic, social, and spiritual transition of new students to the Lane College family and promote the college's mission of developing the "whole" student. We will accomplish this mission through the following goals:

  • Promote academic success
  • Foster a sense of community
  • Develop spiritual awareness OR advance spiritual growth
  • Provide appropriate resources, services, and policies

FYE Vision:

The First Year Experience (FYE) program provides first-year students with necessary foundational support critical for undergraduate student success. Summer Dragon Academy, "Discovery Week," Freshmen Orientation, and the FYE Leaders Program are all critical First Year Experience programing components. As a comprehensive programming network, FYE challenges students to orient themselves within the unfolding legacy of "Fair Lane" and to embrace her core values of intellectual and creative excellence, spiritual development, and servant leadership.
