How and When to Apply for Financial Aid

All students are strongly encouraged to submit the standard Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the RENEWAL Free Application for Federal Student Aid, preferably to the Lane College Office of Financial Aid. March 31 is the priority deadline for Lane College. Tennessee students are encouraged to submit the FAFSA or RENEWAL FAFSA on or before March 1 of each year to receive maximum consideration for the Tennessee Student Assistance Award.

Students may apply for financial aid using a paper application or two electronic processes. Electronic processing allows students to receive the results of the financial aid application within weeks rather than the two months needed to process a paper application. Students may complete the FAFSA online or submit the FAFSA to the Office of Financial Aid for electronic submission of the financial aid application.

Students who applied for aid last year may also be able to complete a Renewal FAFSA application on-line (Renewal FAFSA filers will need to obtain a PIN first).
