Dr. Lora Bailey, Vice President for Academic Affairs
The VPAA, Dr. Lora Battle Bailey, is the chief academic officer of Lane College, and reports directly to President Wesley Cornelious McClure in defining and shaping strategic academic priorities and directions for the College; providing advice on important academic policy and supporting key academic initiatives. The VPAA works to foster communication and collaboration on academic matters among the academic divisions at Lane College. Dr. Bailey is an experienced higher education administrator, with a plethora of years administering academic leadership of programs, departments and Colleges as program chair and dean. Among her key experiences are leadership at research intensive institutions such as Auburn University, and the University of Louisville. Additionally, she has ten years of experience researching and disseminating scholarly findings from her federally funded projects, such as the Improving Teacher Quality grant at the University of South Carolina-Columbia. Dr. Bailey is an accomplished researcher, author, instructor and servant to the higher education academy, which includes over $3.4 million in funded projects, and frequent invitations to speak at the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), the Holmes Partnership, and at national, statewide, and local early childhood teacher education annual meetings. She has served as co-chair for the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI) Research Committee for four years, and Development Committee Chair for the National Association of Holmes Scholars Alumni for the past six years. She is heavily engaged in the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education’s (AACTE) Holmes Scholar development initiatives, and is NCATE Board of Examiner trained.
