Covid-19 Relief Funds/CRRSAA

Dear Scholars,

As you know, the federal government awarded Lane College CRRSAA formally CARES funds to support students whose education was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. When the funds are available, Student Accounts will deposit funds into your Bank Mobile account that is on file with Lane College. If you do not have a Bank Mobile account, please contact studentaccounts@lanecollege.edu to create one.

Student Accounts will distribute the funds in two ways:

1. Lane CRRSAA Fund – $250 will be awarded to each student enrolled in the College in the Spring 2021 to support the student’s food, housing and transportation needs caused by the disruption. You only need to have a Bank Mobile account to receive these funds.

2. The Lane Direct Support Fund – These funds will be awarded on a case by case bases. A student may request these funds to support allowable educational expenses by application. The application is attached to this email and will also be placed on our website under Lane Life Cares Act Funding.

What is the CRRSAA?

The ongoing disruption caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic continues to create challenges for colleges and universities and their students throughout the country. In response to this ongoing crisis, the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA) provides an additional $22.7 billion for Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds, which the Department of Education (DOE) is referring to as HEERF II.

As a result of the CRRSAA signed into law on December 27, 2020, funding has been made available to institutions for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students for any component of the student’s cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or childcare. The CRRSAA requires that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need.

How much of the HEERF II is allocated to Lane College?

Lane College received $1,215,489.

Who is eligible to receive a CRRSAA Emergency Financial Aid Grant?

  1. Students must be eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA). For purposes of disbursal of these funds, the College will base determination of eligibility on the existence of the student’s 2018 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  2. Student must be enrolled at least half time.
  3. Students must be United States citizens.
  4. Determine the amount of each individual Emergency Financial Aid Grant consistent with all applicable laws including non-discrimination laws.
  5. Prescribe the methodology for distribution of funds across the student population.
  6. Complete and electronically submit the CRRSAA application.
  7. Students must attest that the funds will be used for the award purpose.

How Lane will disburse funding?

Student Accounts will distribute the funds in two ways:

  1. Lane CRRSAA Fund – $250 will be awarded to each student enrolled in the College in the Spring 2021 to support the student’s food, housing and transportation needs caused by the disruption. You only need to have a Bank Mobile account to receive these funds.
  2. The Lane Direct Support Fund – These funds will be awarded on a case by case bases. A student may request these funds to support allowable educational expenses by application.

What can an Emergency Aid Grant be used for?

Any emergency financial aid grant funds that you may receive may only be used to pay for any component of your cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or childcare as described above. You may choose to use the grant funds to pay an outstanding tuition balance to the College.
