Congratulations to Philip C. Godwin on receiving the Quillin-Hasting Fund Scholarship from the UNCF in the amount of $5,000. Philip is a junior computer science major from Abuja, Nigeria and recently represented Lane at the HBCU Battle of the Brains competition in Austin, TX.

Congratulations to D’Yani Bernstine on receiving the Quillin-Hasting Fund Scholarship from the UNCF. D’Yani is a sophomore business major from Riverside, California and a member of the Lady Dragons Basketball Team.

Camarioun Maxwell
Congratulations to Camarioun Maxwell on receiving a $1,000 Toyota Motor Company Scholarship from the UNCF. Comarioun is a junior from Memphis, TN majoring in physical education. “My career goal is to be a physical therapist, and receiving this scholarship means a lot to me. It represents not only financial support but also recognition of my hard work and dedication. It motivates me to continue striving for excellence and makes me feel more confident about my future academic and career goals.”

Cabria Pirtle
Congratulations to Cabria Pirtle on receiving the $10,000 Rooted In Science Scholarship from the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). Cabria is a senior biology major from Whiteville, Tennessee. “This scholarship is incredibly meaningful to me. It’s a blessing because it will help ease my financial burdens as I continue my education, and it also pushes me to stay dedicated to achieving my long-term career goal of becoming a surgeon, specializing in general surgery.”

Nikolaus Baker
Congratulations to Nikolaus Baker on receiving the LeBlanc/Baker Scholarship for Change and the HBCU Sustainable Communities Initiative Scholarship from the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). A junior business major from Memphis, TN, Nikolaus has received over $19,000 in UNCF scholarships.

Jocelyn Webster
Congratulations to Jocelyn Webste, a junior sociology major from Los Angeles CA who has received three scholarships from the United Negro College Fund (UNCF): the Ahmanson Foundation Scholarship and twice been awarded the NAACP/Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Scholarship. "Receiving the Ahmanson Foundation Scholarship means so much to me. It provides vital support in my educational journey, allowing me to focus more on my studies "and less on financial stress. This scholarship brings me one step closer to achieving my dream of becoming a child psychologist and helping children through their mental health challenges."

Lemanuel Turnipseed
Congratulations to Lemanuel Turnipseed on receiving the Alfred Street Baptist Church HBCU, Vertus Hardiman Endowed, Foot Locker Foundation, Inc, and Bimbo Bakeries Student Professional Development Program scholarships from the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). Lemanuel is a junior business finance major from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Since his enrollment, Lemanuel has received $21,500 in UNCF Scholarships. “My goals are to earn my MBA and become a financial analyst & marketing executive. Receiving these UNCF scholarships means so much to me. It lets me know that through work and prayer, I can advance academically and plant seeds for achieving career success in the future. I encourage my peers apply for UNCF scholarships. When we apply for UNCF scholarships, we’re investing in ourselves.”

Laila Cooper
Congratulations to Laila V. A. Cooper, our Miss Lane 2024, on receiving $10,250 in scholarships from the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) including the Ray Charles Endowed Scholarship. Laila is a senior business major from Chicago, Illinois who aspires to have a modeling and marketing career. "When I filled out a couple of UNCF applications but didn't get the scholarships, I took it personally and gave up. Then, I was reminded to keep applying. Continuing to strive is the key to success not only for ourselves but the next generation. My 8-year-old niece, Asia, is my inspiration. Everything I do is to give her leverage for her future. So I keep applying to the UNCF so that I'll have less debt and more funds to invest in myself and in her."

Gerald McAfee
Congratulations to Gerald McAfee on receiving the $2,500 Home Depot Scholarship from the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). Gerald is a freshman mass communication major from Houston, Texas. "The Home Depot scholarship is a significant opportunity that means more than financial support. It represents validation of my hard work, dedication, and aspirations.
