UNCF Scholarships

UNCF has helped more than 450,000 students earn their college degrees since its founding.

UNCF is the nation’s largest private scholarship provider to minority group members. Each year, we award more than $100 million in scholarships to more than 10,000 students at more than 1,100 schools across the country, including our prestigious network of 37 HBCUs.

To apply, log onto opportunities.uncf.org; For help with the application and essay, contact Ms. Graves at 731-265-1721 and agraves@lanecollege.edu. Be sure to obtain and keep a digital copy of your high school transcript. If you have a hard copy, scan it and save it on a flash drive and/or computer for uploading to the UNCF portal.

Creating A UNCF Account Instructions

  1. Log onto opportunities.uncf.org
  2. Once the page loads, click "Login/Register" in the upper left area of the page.
  3. Then, click "Need to Register?" toward the bottom of the page.
  4. Type your personal email address in the space provided. This will be your username.
  5. Check the "Applicant" box.
  6. Follow the rest of the prompts to complete your registration.
  7. When providing your primary contact email address, be sure to list your personal email address from a Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud account, etc. DO NOT use your school email address.
  8. Go back to opportunities.uncf.org; Scroll down, and click the “Explore all Programs and Opportunities” link.
  9. Scroll down to list of programs; click the name of each program; review all of the details & instructions; apply for each program that matches your GPA, ethnicity, major, etc., and/or is for all majors & classifications.
  10. Click "Apply," and complete the application
  11. Submitting an essay will be required; Draft it in a WORD or Google document; Address the topic given; Proofread carefully; Copy & Paste it in to application.

    1. 2025-2026 Health Care Scholars United: Undergraduate – Lane Junior Biology, Chemistry, Math, Physics, Religion, and Sociology majors with at least a 3.0 GPA who will graduate in either December 2026 or spring 2027 and pursue a career in medicine, nursing, social work, or mental health, with a demonstrated commitment to pursuing an advanced degree in a clinical profession can apply for this merit-based scholarship award; Amount: $5,000/year for 2 years; Recipients will also receive 1) Academic support and mentoring; 2) Mental Health and Wellness Resources; 3) Profession al Development support; and 4) Testing/Licensure Stipends up to $500; Deadline: Mon., 7-14-25, 10pm CST; 11pm EST; Apply here. https://opportunities.uncf.org/s/program-landing-page?id=a2iVJ00000ceek5YAA
