UNCF Scholarships

UNCF has helped more than 450,000 students earn their college degrees since its founding.

UNCF is the nation’s largest private scholarship provider to minority group members. Each year, we award more than $100 million in scholarships to more than 10,000 students at more than 1,100 schools across the country, including our prestigious network of 37 HBCUs.

To apply, log onto opportunities.uncf.org; For help with the application and essay, contact Ms. Graves at 731-265-1721 and agraves@lanecollege.edu. Be sure to obtain and keep a digital copy of your high school transcript. If you have a hard copy, scan it and save it on a flash drive and/or computer for uploading to the UNCF portal.

Creating A UNCF Account Instructions

  1. Log onto opportunities.uncf.org
  2. Once the page loads, click "Login/Register" in the upper left area of the page.
  3. Then, click "Need to Register?" toward the bottom of the page.
  4. Type your email address in the space provided. This will be your username.
  5. Check the "Applicant" box.
  6. Follow the rest of the prompts to complete your registration.
  7. To view current scholarship opportunities, go to opportunities.uncf.org; scroll down, and click the “Explore all Programs and Opportunities” link. Scroll down to the list of programs.


    All Majors

    1. 2025-2026 Cox Enterprises Scholarship Program - All Lane students with at least a 2.5 GPA overall can apply; NO REFERENCE REQUIRED; Amount up to $5,000; Deadline: Thurs., 5-1-25, 4 pm CST; Apply here. https://opportunities.uncf.org/s/program-landing-page?id=a2iVJ00000Z7OAOYA3

    STEM (Science, Technology Engineering & Math) Majors

    1. 2025-2026 CVS Health Foundation Health Care Careers Scholarship – Lane African American/Black and Hispanic American Sophomores majoring in Biology or Sociology with at least a 3.0 GPA can apply; Reference Optional; Resume’ Required; Deadline: Thurs., 5-15-25, 7 pm CST; 8 pm EST; Amount: $10,000; Apply here. https://opportunities.uncf.org/s/program-landing-page?id=a2iVJ00000Whq5lYAB



    Application Instructions:

    1. Log onto opportunities.uncf.org
    2. Click on "Log On or Register" in the upper right corner; then, click "Register" on the next page
    3. Create a username, password and profile; Check the "Applicant" box
    4. Go back to opportunities.uncf.org; click the link to the scholarship for which you will apply; and review all of the details & instructions
    5. Click "Apply" and complete the application
    6. Submitting an essay will be required; Draft it in a WORD document; Address the topic given; Proofread it carefully; Copy & Paste it into application
    7. A scanned copy of your official transcript might also be required; so, that you can upload it to the UNCF website
    8. You must invite a professor or supervisor or coach, etc. to write you a letter of reference online. (A) Submit your recommender's email address and name in the reference section of the application. (B) UNCF will email him/her a link to use to write your letter of reference online. (C) Tell your recommender to check his/her spam folder for an "Invitation to Serve as A Reference" email
    9. Log in to your UNCF account weekly, and check your "Landing Page" for scholarship and internship alert.
