How to Post a Position
Getting Started with Handshake
1. Create a Handshake user account.
2. Create a Handshake company profile.
3. Connect with Lane College on Handshake.
4. Select to Post a Job, Request On-Campus Interviews, or Request an On-Campus Event (Information Table or Session)
5. Add Handshake (handshake@notifications.joinhandshake.com) to your address book so system emails will not be filtered to your spam or junk mail.
How to post a position
You may post any of the following types of positions within Handshake: Internship or Co-op, Full-Time, Part-Time, Permanent, or Temporary/Seasonal.
1. Log in to your Handshake account.
2. Select to Post a Job from the Handshake dashboard.
3. Complete the form providing as much detail as possible for best recruiting results (you can copy and paste information into these forms).
Helpful Hints
- Provide details of your candidate preferences (i.e., GPA, graduation date, major, etc.) Keep in mind that you will have a larger pool if your criteria is not too narrow
- Students are more likely to look at jobs that were paid.
- If you’ll offer some type of compensation or “perks” (i.e., per diem, free coffee, meals, gas cards, stipend at end of experience, etc.), include it in the description.

Posting Guidelines
Lane College is committed to connecting students and employers for quality professional paths. This means that the organization will not promote posts that are not appropriate for the student population. This includes but is not limited to upfront investment sales positions and 100% commission-based salaries. If you have any questions, please cpi@lanecollege.edu.
Employer Posting Policies
- We follow the guidelines associated with our job platform Handshake
- Postings that are appropriate for our student population will be approved within two business days
- Postings that require upfront costs of any kind will not be approved
- Postings should include formal contact information for career center staff: company email address, website, and telephone number

Our students welcome employer engagement and we offer space for you to host your campus recruiting day. Our team will walk you through the process to target your audience.

Lane College Career Services is your partner in finding exceptional talent. We organize career and internship fairs, facilitate on-campus recruiting events such as information sessions and on-campus interviews, and manage Handshake, our online job board. Additionally, we collaborate with other campus career offices to tailor our support to your recruiting needs. This means you may work with us while also engaging with another career office on campus.
