Carmen Wilson, 20, was crowned Miss Lane College Sunday night on the campus of Lane College. Carmen will move on to represent Lane College at the Miss Tennessee Volunteer Pageant. Wilson takes over the role of Miss Lane College from Mia Townsend 21, from Chattanooga TN. Wilson competed against Townsend in 2021 and placed as First Runner-Up to Miss Lane College. Mia crowned her successor at Graves Auditorium on Sunday and presented her with a bouquet of roses and a trophy.

Mr. Lane College is Corrion Davis, a senior majoring in Accounting from Gary, Indiana. Corrion is a member of the Student Government Association, Lead Residential Assistant, The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), National Forensic League Champion, and the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature.

The yearlong reign of the new Mr. & Miss Lane College begins immediately. They will make their first public appearance Sunday, March 6, at the 2022 Founder's Day Celebration. They are also preparing a schedule to do charity work, speak to community groups, motivate students, and more. Miss Lane College's 2022 social impact initiative is “Let The Music Heal Your Soul.“ She will promote music therapy to reduce stress and promote healing and wellbeing among elementary-age children. Mr. Lane College's social impact initiative is Mental Health Awareness.

“My dream has finally come true,” Wilson said backstage after her win. “God showed me a vision, I hope to inspire other young ladies to never give up, even if you have to try again. I’m just so happy and thankful to be Miss Lane”.

Corrion stated, “I surprised myself, I would like to thank everyone for encouraging me to move forward.”

We wish them a successful year.
