(Jackson, TN) On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, Lane College will convene its 139th Fall Convocation in the J.F. Lane Health and Physical Education Building, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend the Convocation, and asked to be seated no later than 10:15 a.m.
The Convocation service marks the official beginning of the College’s new academic school year. The speaker for this solemn occasion will be Mrs. A. Olivia Lang, Director of Faith-based Partnerships for CVS Health, Workforce Initiatives.
Mrs. Lang provides oversight of the Faith-based and Second Chance programs in support of the company’s Social Justice and Equity Initiative. She is also the former National Co-Chair for the
CVS Health Faith-based Colleague Resource Group, providing opportunities for colleague engagement networking and professional development.
Olivia was previously employed as Bureau Chief of the Family Investment Administration, Maryland Department of Human Resources in Baltimore, Md. She was responsible for program planning, development and marketing for statewide hiring agreement initiatives and charitable campaigns. She successfully forged strategic partnerships and leveraged key stakeholder relationships to impact national, state, and local workforce development efforts.
She is the recipient of the National Eagle Leadership Award, from The National Eagle Leadership Institute that recognizes Black and Hispanic professionals in Corporate America whose records of performance inspire others to reach a higher standard of leadership in both their business and community endeavors. She is also a recipient National Benjamin S. Ruffin Leadership Award for her dedication and outstanding commitment to the National Black Caucus of State Legislators, Corporate Roundtable.
Olivia is a graduate of Morgan State University and holds a Master of Administrative Science Degree in Human Resources from The Johns Hopkins University. She also obtained a Master of Theology from Roanoke Theological Seminary and received a Certificate of License in the Gospel Ministry in 2018. Olivia has a solid Christian Leadership background serving a Superintendent of Sunday School, Director of Christian Education and Director of After School Programs for At Risk Youth. She has served in various capacities in the areas of Church Growth, Christian Education and Community Outreach.
She is married to Rev. Dr. William L. Lang, Pastor of Mount Sinai Baptist Church and is blessed with a family she cherishes, which includes (2) sons; Ryan and Devon, (2) grandchildren; Toriana and Zavion and (3) Godchildren; Jaquetta, Andre, and McKenzie. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
