FALL 2020 INSTRUCTION GUIDELINES

Lane College will begin instruction on August 3, 2020 for first-time freshmen and August 7, 2020 for all returning students. Instruction will be provided through the following delivery methods:

  • Remote Instruction – Online through the Blackboard platform.
  • Face-to Face – Meeting in classes on campus.

All students will choose their method of preferred delivery based on course availability. (There will be a limited number of face-to-face courses based on reduction in class sizes because of social distancing.)

All face-to-face course classrooms are set up for proper social distancing. Instructors will have a ten (10) feet distance from students in the classroom. Each student will have a six (6) feet distance between them and other students.

Registration will be conducted through CAMS. Courses will be designated ONL or HYB for online and LEC for face-to-face. If students have already registered for the Fall and want to change their preferred method of delivery, they must contact their advisor for assistance in making the change.

All students are strongly encouraged to update their CAMS Profile for current contact information to ensure that all course materials provided through our Student Textbook Exchange Program (STEP) are forwarded to the correct address.

Students who may have technology issues related to online instruction should contact the Office of Academic Affairs at aa@lanecollege.edu for assistance.

Log on to Blackboard where each instructor will provide detailed instructions regarding your class. Students will find: a course syllabus, clearly detailed content, instruction calendar, assignments due date, submission procedures, student availability hours, and preferred ways of contact, etc.

All instructors will be communicating frequently with information regarding their course (s). Please routinely check Blackboard, CAMS, and Lane College email for announcements and informational communications (First Blackboard message and/or email on transition to online delivery to include a web link to helpful tips for students).

All instructors will have Student Availability Hours posted for virtual communication through a medium of choice (Skype, Blackboard Discussion Forum, Email, Facetime, Google HangOuts, Zoom, etc.)
