Jennie E. Lane Legacy Society Inductees Honored

Nov 17, 2021

Jackson, Tenn. (November 16, 2021) - Lane College would like to formally congratulate Greg ('70) and Cheryl Davis and Leon Freeman ('68) on their recent induction into the Jennie E. Lane Legacy Society.

The Society welcomes those alumni and friends into the membership once they have documented a commitment to Lane College of $100,000 or more. The ceremony was held Friday, November 12 on the 139th anniversary of the first session of the C.M.E. High School, later to become Lane College.

The Society is named in honor of Miss Jennie E. Lane, the first teacher at the institution.

A reception was held in their honor with family and friends present. Music was provided by the Lane College Jennie E. Lane Ensemble.

Because the induction ceremony was held virtually last year, 2020 inductees John and Jean Potts were also honored at this year's in-person induction. All inductees spoke of their love and gratitude to the College, and the honor it is to leave a legacy to future generations at Lane while encouraging others to do the same.

Other society members include:

2017 - Morris and Brenda Fair and A. Laura Johnson

2018 - Jessie Nave Carpenter, Dr. Jesse and Cheryl Tyson, Warlene Greer-Reed

2019 - Dr. Logan and Susan Hampton, Tommie Kirkendoll, Harold and Trustee Voresa Booker, Darryl and Darlette Samuels

2020 - John and Jean Potts, Judson and Donna Pickard
