Lane College Basketball Raises the Bar in the SIAC

The Lane College basketball teams are making noise across the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, with both the men and women off to impressive starts that reflect a new standard of excellence on and off the court. Under the guidance of Head Men’s Basketball Coach Harold Rayford and Head Women’s Basketball Coach Surina Dixion, the Dragons are playing with confidence, purpose, and a clear sense of identity. The story of this season is not only about wins. It is about student impact, discipline, and the pride of representing Lane College at a high level.

Men’s Basketball: Number 1 Offense in the Conference

The Lane men’s basketball team currently ranks number 1 in the conference in scoring offense, averaging 81.4 points per game. The Dragons are playing an exciting brand of basketball that combines pace, unselfish play, and relentless scoring pressure.

The offensive surge is led by standout guards Elijah Greer Dawson and Elijah Lewis, who both rank #1 and #2 among the top scorers in the conference. Their ability to create shots, attack the basket, and set up teammates has helped define Lane as one of the most dangerous offensive teams in the league.

Greer Dawson enters this season as one of the premier returning players in the SIAC after earning Newcomer of the Year honors and a pre season All SIAC selection. His scoring, playmaking, and two way impact continue to anchor the Dragons’ backcourt attack and set the tone for the team’s competitive edge.

Women’s Basketball: Climbing the Standings in the West

The Lane women’s basketball team is also making a strong statement early in the season. The Lady Dragons currently rank among the top offensive and defensive teams in the conference and sit near the top of the West Division standings with a record of 6 wins and 1 loss overall and 5 wins and 1 loss in conference play.

Led by key contributors such as Dyani Bernstine and Europe Brown, the women’s team has combined efficient scoring, strong rebounding, and disruptive defense to fuel its early success. Both players have emerged as reliable leaders, helping to stabilize the team in big moments and modeling the work ethic expected from Lane student athletes.

Across both programs, the heart of Lane College basketball is the student experience.
Our men’s and women’s players are competing at a high level while carrying the mission of Lane College into every game. They represent their majors, families, and hometowns while managing film sessions, practice, travel, coursework, and the expectations of the Lane community.
