Lane College partnered with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. to host Direct Dialogue, a national virtual session introducing Kappa League students and their families to academic, scholarship, and student life opportunities at Lane College.

Guide Right Program Virtual Session

The session was hosted in collaboration with the Beta Lambda Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., founded on the campus of Lane College, and the Jackson Tennessee Alumni Chapter. Both chapters worked alongside the College to deliver an experience aligned with Kappa Alpha Psi’s commitment to supporting the mission and values of HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities).

Participants included Guide Right Programs and their Kappa League students nationwide, advised by the Jackson Tennessee Alumni Chapter. Students and families engaged with Lane College leaders, fraternity mentors, and undergraduate representatives to explore pathways to college access, leadership development, and student success.

“Training for Leadership is a responsibility that requires education, discipline, and purpose,” said Dr. Shannon Faulk, a member of the national leadership of Kappa Alpha Psi’s Guide Right Program. “Higher education equips students with the critical thinking and character needed to be high achievers who lead with integrity and impact.”

Student life at Lane College was highlighted by Kevon Jordan, a member of the Beta Lambda Chapter, who shared the undergraduate experience. “Lane is a place where students are known, supported, and challenged to grow,” Jordan said. “Through leadership opportunities and a strong campus community, students are prepared not just for graduation, but for life beyond Lane.”

By creating intentional dialogue and a clear pathway from interest to application, Lane College and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. reinforced a shared commitment to leadership development and educational access.
