Sixty-Seven Lane Student-Athletes Named to All-Academic Team

Jackson, Tenn. – A total of 67 Lane College student-athletes have been named to the 2019-20 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Commissioner’s All-Academic Team.

Within the SIAC, a record-high 1,355 student-athletes were named to the Commissioner’s All-Academic Team for maintaining at least a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average throughout the 2019-20 academic year, according to a press release from the SIAC conference office on Friday.

Lane College football had 15 names added to the Commissioner's All-Academic Team, while softball had 13 players honored on the list. Twelve volleyball players were named and six players were honored in both men’s and women’s basketball. Ten baseball players were named along with two runners in women’s cross country. Men’s cross country and women’s tennis also had student athletes named to the All-Academic Team.

“We expect each of our varsity athletes to excel on the field and in the classroom,” said Dr. Logan Hampton, President, Lane College. “Even in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, and difficult times across our country, it is encouraging to see a number of our varsity athletes making the Commissioner’s All-Academic Team.”
