We write to you today with a deep appreciation for your unwavering support and shared commitment to Lane College’s mission of developing the “whole student”—academically, socially, and spiritually. Your belief in the transformative power of a Lane education allows us to prepare leaders who uplift communities and shape the world.

After careful analysis and thoughtful deliberation, Lane College will implement a 10% tuition increase beginning with the 2025 - 2026 academic year. This marks our first increase in over six years, during which time the College has worked diligently to maintain affordability for our students and families despite rising operational and instructional costs.

Lane remains one of the most competitively priced institutions among private HBCUs and liberal arts colleges. Even with this adjustment, our tuition remains significantly lower than that of comparable colleges across the region and the nation. This decision was not made lightly—it reflects our dedication to ensuring Lane remains financially strong, academically excellent, and positioned to provide an exceptional college experience.
This tuition adjustment will allow us to:

  • Sustain and strengthen our academic offerings, including emerging programs in media arts, STEM, and pre-health professions.
  • Enhance experiential learning opportunities through internships, research, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Support our strategic partnerships—including those with Rhodes College, Tennessee State University, UTHSC, and CVS—and capitalize on grants and sponsorships from the NSF and FedEx.
  • Invest in campus infrastructure, faculty development, and student support services to foster a dynamic and nurturing environment.

Lane College offers a unique and irreplaceable value. We are more than an institution—we are a beacon of hope, a launchpad for leaders, and a family that fosters growth, resilience, and excellence. Your continued partnership ensures that our students receive not only a degree, but a purpose-driven education steeped in history, culture, and opportunity.

We thank you for standing with us as we take this important step forward. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this change in more detail, please contact the Office of Business and Finance at 731-265-1720.
