Lane College’s Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students Darryl K. McGee announces his plans to step down from his role effective August 31, 2024.
“I consider my service at Lane to be a privilege and will be forever grateful for my time here,” said McGee, who has held the dual role of vice president and dean of students since 2016. His unwavering dedication and significant contributions have greatly enriched the Lane College community, and we all deeply appreciate his service.
During Mr. McGee’s tenure, Lane College has seen significant developments. The establishment of Dragon Academy, a summer bridge program, has greatly assisted first-time freshmen in their transition to college. Under McGee’s leadership, Lane College developed a “Gold Star” Greek Life Risk Management process, which has provided a structured and safe environment for Greek Intake. Mr. McGee also coordinated the renovation projects for eight residence halls, significantly improving the living conditions for our students.
“In my time at Lane, we have worked to create programs and services that assisted students to become better versions of themselves and succeed not only in the classroom but also outside of the classroom,” said McGee. His instrumental role in the recent development of Lane College’s Living Learning Communities is a testament to his commitment to student success, and his work deeply inspires us.
McGee’s service at Lane College extends beyond his roles as vice president and dean of students. He also served as a SACSCOC Evaluator for two years, and as an adjunct faculty member. His dedication and versatility have greatly benefited our institution.
