Sunspots are an important aspect of solar weather and can be viewed with appropriate equipment such as a telescope and solar filters. They are a cool 6000 degrees Fahrenheit (compared to about 10000 degrees Fahrenheit over the rest of the surface of the sun), caused by increased magnetic activity, and often precede solar flares that can knock out communication satellites and set the power grid on fire.
