Scholarships

We know how overwhelming it can be at times, thinking about how to tackle the cost of college. But, fortunately for you, there are literally hundreds of scholarships and grants out there available for you to take advantage of to help offset the costs. Here are a list of some we offer that require no repayment from you. It's like free money. And who doesn't love that?

UNCF SCHOLARSHIPS

UNCF has helped more than 450,000 students earn their college degrees since its founding.

UNCF is the nation’s largest private scholarship provider to minority group members. Each year, we award more than $100 million in scholarships to more than 10,000 students at more than 1,100 schools across the country, including our prestigious network of 37 HBCUs.

To apply, log onto www.scholarships.uncf.org; For help with the application and essay, contact Ms. Graves at 731-265-1721 and agraves@lanecollege.edu. Be sure to obtain and keep a digital copy of your high school transcript. If you have a hard copy, scan it and save it on a flash drive and/or computer for uploading to the UNCF portal.

All Majors

  1. UNCF General Scholarship Application 2020 - Lane students who have at least a 2.5 GPA overall can apply. Complete the application, now! It only takes a few minutes…NO ESSAY, NO TRANSCRIPT, and NO REFERENCE REQUIRED!
  2. Comcast NBCUniversal Scholarship 2019Sophomores & Juniors with at least a 3.0 GPA overall can apply; Must have a strong interest in entertainment & media; Award Amount: up to $5,000; Application Deadline: THIS MONDAY., 6-15-20, 10:59 pm CST; 11:59 pm EST
  3. Spectrum Scholars 2020 – Students who will be juniors in the fall of 2020 and have at least a 3.0 GPA can apply for this scholarship and internship with the Charter Spectrum Communications mass media company; Award Amount: up to $20,000; Application Deadline: Mon., 6-29-20, 10:59 pm CST; 11:59 pm EST

  4. Panda Cares Scholars Program 2020Sophomores who have at least a 3.0 GPA overall and whose permanent residence is in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin can apply.   5. NASCAR Wendell Scott Sr. Scholarship 2018 – Students who have at least a 3.0 GPA overall can apply; a resume’ and video required; Award Amount: up to $2,310; Application Deadline: Tues., 7-28-20, 10:59 pm CST; 11:59 pm EST


Business Majors

Southwest Indiana Scholarship Program 2020 – Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors with at least a 2.5 GPA overall who are permanent residents of Southwest Indiana Counties including Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Martin, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Warrick can apply; Award Amount: up to $3,000; Application Deadline: Thurs., 8-13-20, 10:59 pm CST; 11:59 pm EST


New York

  1. PepsiCo Foundation-UNCF Bronx Women's Initiative 2020Women high school seniors, freshmen, sophomores, & juniors whose permanent residence is in the Bronx, N.Y. and who have at least a 2.75 GPA overall can apply; Award Amount: up to $5,000; Application Deadline: Tues., 6-30-20, 10:59 pm CST; 11:59 pm EST


Application Instructions:

  1. Log onto www.scholarships.uncf.org
  2. Click on "Log On or Register" in the upper right corner; then, click "Register" on the next page
  3. Create a username, password and profile; Check the "Applicant" box
  4. Go back to www.scholarships.uncf.org; click the link to the scholarship for which you will apply; and review all of the details & instructions
  5. Click "Apply" and complete the application
  6. Submitting an essay will be required; Draft it in a WORD document; Address the topic given; Proofread it carefully; Copy & Paste it into application
  7. A scanned copy of your official transcript might also be required; so, that you can upload it to the UNCF website
  8. You must invite a professor or supervisor or coach, etc. to write you a letter of reference online. (A) Submit your recommender's email address and name in the reference section of the application. (B) UNCF will email him/her a link to use to write your letter of reference online. (C) Tell your recommender to check his/her spam folder for an "Invitation to Serve as A Reference" email
  9. Log in to your UNCF account weekly, and check your "Landing Page" for scholarship and internship alert.

POWER OF POTENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Power of Potential Scholarship is offered to high school seniors who earn a grade point average of 3.0 or higher (unweighted). Successful applicants will show academic achievement, perseverance, and leadership. Priority consideration will be given to applicants with complete admissions applications and FAFSAs submitted on or before the annual deadline. The Power of Potential Scholarship is a last dollar scholarship designed to meet the direct cost of attendance. All federal and state aid (grants and loans) must be applied prior to the scholarship amount.

S-STEM SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The S-STEM Scholarship provides financial, academic, and professional development support to new students majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Math, Computer Science, or Physics. S-STEM Scholars will receive up to four years of scholarships with annual support of up to $10,000 per year which will be based on financial need and academic potential. Students must meet and maintain eligibility requirements, including minimum high school GPA of 2.8 and demonstrated financial need. To apply, click the link below.
